Meet the Artist: Natascia Favaron

For Natascia Favaron, art has always been part of her world. Born and raised in Italy, she grew up surrounded by centuries of architecture, sculpture, painting, and history. From the Roman and Greek influences woven into Italian cities to the works of artists such as Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo, art was simply part of everyday life—and it shaped the way Natascia learned to see beauty.

Nature became a natural extension of that perspective. Flowers, landscapes, animals, and the beauty of the world around her continue to inspire Natasha’s work. Although she always had a pencil in her hand as a child, she never imagined that art would eventually become such an important part of her life.

Natascia moved to the United States about 11 years ago and married her husband here. Adjusting to a completely different culture and way of life was challenging, especially after growing up in a place where art, walking, food, and history were part of everyday life. But over time, she found her place in Louisiana and embraced her new life with her family.

About five years ago, a friend reminded Natascia of the talent she had always carried with her and encouraged her to paint. Natascia decided to take the challenge, and what began as an old passion quickly became a new chapter. Painting has since become her place of peace—a time when she can be alone with her thoughts, challenge herself, and watch something slowly emerge from a blank canvas.

Natascia is largely self-taught, particularly when it comes to oil painting. She began exploring the medium about four years ago, using online resources such as YouTube and Google to teach herself how oils work. She loves the way oil paint blends and enjoys the challenge of learning how to mix colors and create the exact shades she sees in her mind. For Natasha, every painting is another opportunity to learn.

Her subject matter is equally expansive. Flowers remain a favorite, but Natascia also paints horses, wild animals, landscapes, buildings, and other subjects that challenge her creatively. Her love of LSU’s Mike the Tiger even inspired a series of tiger paintings that became particularly successful. At home, she also creates commissioned pet portraits, primarily in pastel pencil, often honoring beloved dogs who have passed away or celebrating cherished pets.

Commissions have become a meaningful part of Natascia’s work. Through pet portraits and other custom pieces, she has the opportunity to create something personal for people and their families. She has also fostered animals through an organization, making her connection to pets and their stories especially meaningful.

Natascia has found a welcoming creative home at The Foyer. She appreciates the trust the team places in its artists and loves seeing how her work is displayed throughout the gallery. She describes the experience almost like working with an interior designer—the way the team considers each piece, how it works with the surrounding art, and how it is presented to customers. She especially enjoys visiting the gallery, seeing her work on the walls, and capturing photographs to share.

For Natascia, becoming an artist was never part of a carefully planned career path. It was something that found its way back into her life when she needed it. Today, painting brings her happiness, peace, and a sense of accomplishment—and she believes that when she is happy, the people around her are happy too.

Visit The Foyer at 3655 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday 12 to 5 PM to see more of Natascia's beautiful and bold paintings.
